Horses are more prone to foot diseases as they use them a lot. It is important to keep your horse's foot healthy and for that you will need to do regular inspections and checks otherwise once a disease is contracted its hard to find a cure completely. One of such problems that occurs in horses is the navicular disease. It affects their foot adversely and its hard to cure as well.

You may discover a few medications that function admirably however to totally cure this infection is considered a difficult job. You will have to work hard with your horse and ensure that he is given proper medication and treatment if you want him to stay healthy for longer.

Till this date, it has not been identified that what really causes this problem in horses which is very unfortunate on their behalf. Researches are being carried out in this regards to find out what really causes this syndrome and whether there is a way to completely eliminate it from affecting these animals.

Some people remain careless when it comes to the health of animals which is not good at all. What they do not realize is that they are making those animals suffer and there is no excuse for that. Being an owner, it is your responsibility to care for the horse and make sure that he is not in pain and if there are any complications, he is provided with appropriate type of treatment.

In some cases, when the condition has worsen, it is advised to perform a surgical procedure on the foot but such procedure should be considered if there is nothing else left that could cure the horse's condition. The surgical procedure is not very straightforward and it could lead to further complications for the horse. So it is an extremely crucial decision to make.

Aside from general care and giving medications to the horse, you must remain affectionate towards him. Make him feel good and comfortable so that he is able to recover at a good pace. Its a fact that any horse could get affected by this hurtful disease but if you remain consistent and make regular checks then it could be avoided to a certain extent.
